What to Wear in Boston for Fall

Posted by Inn at St. Botolph on Sep 12, 2016 10:07:16 AM

In Boston we have a distinct fall season. Starting at the end of September and early October, you can feel a chill in the air and see leaves on the trees starting to turn. As the temperatures drop, you’ll want to be prepared with plenty of layers. While temperatures typically range between 46°F (8°C) and 61°C (16°C) during the fall season, New England weather can be unpredictable. Your best bet is to be prepared for a variety of scenarios. To help you with packing for your Boston trip, we’ve put together some tips as well as a sample packing list!

1. Keep it classic.
To fit in with the locals, we recommend including some classic pieces in your trip wardrobe. Bostonians dress somewhat conservatively and favor neutral colors and timeless staples. Key pieces like striped shirts, a classic tan trench coat will help you look like a local. If traveling for business, we recommend dresses for women and suits for men in neutral colors, like black, gray, navy and tan. If you’re here for vacation, a pair of well fitting jeans and comfortable t-shirt will serve you well! Jewelry and accessories are an easy way to dress up any outfit (and won’t take up much room in your suitcase).

New to the neighborhood

Posted by Inn at St. Botolph on Jun 13, 2016 2:04:36 PM

There are so many reasons to love our location in Boston's South End! The vibrant neighborhood, which is recognizable for its classic brownstone buildings, is increasingly gaining a reputation for its restaurant scene and small local retailers. We've highlighted some of our favorite businesses in previous posts, like this highlight on the Urban Grape and our holiday shopping guide. There are almost too many favorites to name! This spring the neighborhood has gained even more wonderful additions. Let's give a warm welcome to these newcomers!

KAVA Neo-Taverna

It feels like all of the South End has been patiently waiting for KAVA's opening -- and it was well worth the wait! This cozy joint on the corner of Shawmut and Union Park is a Greek Taverna and Wine Bar that specializes in small plates. With nautical rope lights and a hand painted details, the space is the perfect place to enjoy an evening drink. Bonus: it's directly across from one of our other favorite spots, the South End Buttery.

It's the perfect time to start planning your summer trip to Boston. The warm summer months are filled with events and activities which makes it a wonderful time to visit! With many college students gone for the summer, it can be a an ideal time for visitors. Here are our top recommendations for activities in the city for the 2016 season:

* Cirque du Soleil - Kurios
  Showing through July 10th

Cirque du Soleil is known for their visually stunning theatrical performances. The tour of the production Kurios - Cabinet of Curiosities is starting in Boston and showing at Suffolk Downs.

* Scooper Bowl
  June 7th - June 9th

The tastiest fundraiser of the summer is the Scooper Bowl! A ticket earns you entry into the all-you-can-eat ice cream festival. Taste ice cream from many national brands and feel good about attending because proceeds benefit The Jimmy Fund! The festival runs Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
