10 Best Restaurants Near the Hynes Convention Center

Posted by Inn at St. Botolph on Feb 10, 2016 9:26:00 AM

Every year the Hynes Convention Center welcomes hundreds of thousands of convention-goers in Boston. From the Small Business Expo (5,000 attendees), to the New England Anime Society (24,000 attendees), to runners picking up their bibs for the Boston Marathon in the spring, the Hynes is a lively spot throughout the year. Luckily there are plenty of dining options in the area for hungry visitors. Here are our top 10 recommendations of where to eat near the Hynes Convention Center:

1. Sorellina Restaurant
If you’re looking for a special dinner out, Sorellina is the place to go. This high end Italian restaurant always delivers and provides a memorable experience. We highly recommend the Maccheroncelli with American Wagyu Meatballs and the Gnocchi with Maine Lobster and Vermont Butter. Bonus: Guests at the Inn receive 25% off their dinner bill at this Columbus Hospitality restaurant.

2. Atlantic Fish Co.
In the mood for fresh seafood? Atlantic Fish Co. is just a block away from the Convention Center, on Boylston. They’ve been serving fresh seafood in Boston since 1978 and their menu changes daily, to reflect the catch of the day. In the warmer months, their patio is the perfect spot to enjoy a meal while people watching.

716 Boylston St.
Boston, MA 02116

3. Bar Bouloud
Celebrity Chef Daniel Bouloud has restaurants in New York City, Palm Beach, Miami, Singapore, London and now Boston! He expanded to Boston in 2014 with the opening of Bar Bouloud in the Back Bay. For conference goers, this location is a no brainer since it’s just steps away from the Hynes. The French inspired bistro and wine bar offers seasonal dishes and specializes in terrines and pates, as well as signature sausages and burgers.

Boston, MA 02199

4. Cafeteria Boston
Cafeteria Boston is one of our go-to spots. As the name suggests, they offer menu items that you might find at any cafeteria, but made with the freshest ingredients. We like the Mac and Cheese with fontina, cheddar and parmesan. The chic Newbury Street location offers a great view of the street, and is very convenient to the Hynes Convention Center. On a summer day, pull up a seat on the patio and kick back with a cocktail. They’re open for brunch (Saturday & Sunday), lunch and dinner so you can stop by any time after 11:00 AM.

Boston, MA 02116

5. Shake Shack
Sometimes you can’t beat the simple combination of burgers and fries. Add in a delicious milkshake and it gets even better! Shake Shack is still somewhat new in Boston (having opened just a year ago on March 1, 2015) and it has somewhat of a cult following. We love their hand-spun shakes and the special “Back Bay Blend” in particular -- which is a mixture of chocolate custard, peanut butter sauce, chocolate toffee and chocolate sprinkles. Bonus: they also serve beer and wine.

234 – 236 Newbury Street
Boston, MA 02116

6. Mistral
After 18 Years, Mistral Restaurant still continues to impress. We consider it one of the best restaurants in Boston. There's nothing quite like their Tuna Tartare, and we highly recommend the Maine Crab Ravioli as well. Bonus: Guests of the Inn get 25% off their dinner bill at this Columbus Hospitality Group Restaurant.

223 Columbus Avenue
Boston, MA 02116

7. Lucca Back Bay
If you’re craving Italian, Lucca Back Bay is close to the Hynes and right around the corner from the Inn. They offer an elegant main dining room as well as a more casual lounge. They offer a dollar menu on weeknights from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, and we recommending getting there on the earlier side for dollar oyster night on Wednesday.

116 Huntington Ave
Boston, MA 02116

8. Salty Pig
If you're in the mood for stellar charcuterie and a cheese plate, the Salty Pig in Back Bay is for you. Their stone-grilled pizzas are equally good and we also appreciate their selection of craft beers. The vibe is laid back and unpretentious and their patio can't be beat in the warmer months! They accept reservations only for larger parties of 6-15.

130 Dartmouth
Boston, MA 02116

9. Coda
Coda is a small neighborhood restaurant, just a few minutes from the Hynes, in the South End. They serve both lunch and dinner and their food is always comforting. They serve classic American cuisine which pairs nicely with their selection of American craft beer, wines, and seasonal cocktails. The space is small, so we recommend making a reservation in advance.

329 Columbus Ave
Boston, MA 02116

10. Select Oyster Bar
Select Oyster Bar is a neighborhood seafood joint located in a Back Bay brownstone, just around the corner from the Hynes Convention Center. They offer a small menu of simple seafood dishes, from crudos to ceviche, to whole roasted fish. They’re open 7 days a week for both lunch and dinner. Be aware that they include an automatic 20% pre-tax gratuity on the bill.
