In the winter, Boston temperatures can be frigid, but don’t let that scare you away from some of the best activities the city has to offer. If you have the right layers, the cold won’t be a problem, so we recommend you bundle up and head outside! One of our favorite places to go in the winter is the Frog Pond Ice Rink on the Boston Common. From the Inn, it’s about a 25 minute walk, and you’ll be rewarded with a beautiful stroll through downtown Boston.
Spending a few hours skating on the Frog Pond is a wonderful way to spend a winter day. The rink fills with recreational skaters in the evenings and on weekends. If you'd like to go at a quieter time, weekdays during the daytime are best. The Frog Pond is suitable for families with children, and even for new skaters. Kids learning to skate can rent a skating aid to help them keep their balance.
After spending a few hours outside, warm up with a hot meal at one of the nearby restaurants like Mooo (we especially love their Maine Lobster Bisque), Stoddard’s, Teatro, or Salvatore’s. When you return to the Inn, your room will feel extra cozy after a day outdoors. Turn on the fireplace and kick back!
