When you arrive in Boston, one of the first things you may want to do is to make sure that your refrigerator is fully stocked for your stay. The Inn is one of just a few hotels in Boston with a full kitchen, so you’ll be able to shop and cook in your room with ease. Stocking up right away ensures that you’ll be able to make the most out of your stay!
Here are some nearby grocery store options, where you can pick up everything you need:
The first option that we recommend to guests is Shaw’s. Right around the corner from the Inn, the grocery store is just a 4 minute walk. It's the largest grocery store in the Back Bay and has everything a traditional grocery store would - from produce, to baked goods, to flowers, and more.
2. Trader Joe’s
Trader Joe's is just a few minutes further away, on Boylston Street. They offer "innovative, hard-to-find, great-tasting foods" and always have unique offerings. The Boylston store is our favorite place to go to stock up on snacks. Be aware this Trader Joe's is on the small side and can be crowded at peak hours.
3. Roche Bros.
If you find yourself in the Downtown Crossing area and want to make a stop, Roche Bros. is the best option. On their first upstairs level they have a great "grab and go" section with plenty of healthy options. Take the escalator down to the lower level you'll find all of the groceries you'll need along with a multitude of prepared foods and meals. If you're not in the mood to cook, one of their prepared meals is perfect to bring back to your hotel room to heat up later.
Formaggio is our neighborhood favorite! In the South End on Shawmut Ave, they're a 16 minute walk that's well worth the trip. They stock beautiful artisan cheeses, pastas, chocolates and more. You'll feel like you've been transported to a quaint European shop when step in the door. All of their staff are very knowledgable and happy to help you make selections.
5. Urban Grape
If it's wine that you'd like to stock up on, Urban Grape is the place to go. Right around the corner from the Inn on Columbus Ave, this stunning shop has a wide selection of wines, spirits, beer, and sake. The store using a "progressive shelving system" that groups wines by body instead of by producer or varietal, so chances are you'll find something new and different that you love.
We hope these area shops help you take advantage of your full hotel kitchen. While it's always wonderful to enjoy a special dinner out in Boston, it's also nice to have the option to cook in your room and enjoy a night in.
